Regular Events

Social activities are an important feature of life at St James’. We also hold an annual Summer Fête and Christmas Bazaar, both of which attract large numbers of visitors from the local community.

Every Tuesday, we run a Luncheon Club in the church hall for between 30 and 40 local elderly people, followed by Outreach at 2:00 pm.

St James’ Fellowship is a social group, meeting on alternate Thursday evenings in the church hall. It plans a programme of events for the year with guest speakers etc. and also raises money for charities. Fellowship runs a profitable bric-a-brac stall and cake stall at the Summer Fête and Christmas Bazaar. Visitors are always very welcome.

A craft group meets in the church hall on the first Friday afternoon of each month. Members are welcome to bring their own endeavours or to join in with a group project.

St James’ Book Group meets about once a month in members’ houses to discuss books with a Christian or religious theme. Although most of our choices are novels, we have also discussed plays, memoirs, poetry and journalism. Discussion is always friendly, lively and wide-ranging.
